Dirty30 - The Bahamas.

Our first port was Nassau, Bahamas.  We've been to Nassau a few times so the quick stop (4 hours) was perfect to get some sunshine and shop in the port area.

We arrived on the Bahamas election day which meant some shops were closed and no alcohol was served.  While I did want something fruity and iced, I was more focused on shopping for something unique for Munchface and munching on some conch fritters.  What are conch fritters?! They're like... hush puppies with bits of peppers, veggies, and the local shell fish, conch.

Sidenote: this was Dani and Vernon's (family friends and Ryan's, my sister-in-law's, parents) first vacation so mom and dad took them on a shore excursion tour of the island.  Apparently, while we were in the comfort of a restaurant:

... Enjoying conch fritters that were slightly disappointing (more batter than fish).  The parents went to the heart of the island for some hole-in-the-wall authentic conch dishes AND even stopped along the way for the guys to get some "natural Viagra" by eating raw conch - well, the body part doesn't matter - let's just say the islanders were singing Lionel Richie's, "ALLLLL NIGHT LONG," lol.

Conch fritters

They ate conch what?!

Meanwhile, on the other side of town, we finished eating and the guys went shopping for cigars.  The guys had a scheduled man date with dad on the balcony just-about daily.  They were like 2 kids in a candy store:

A few quick pics and it was back on the boat for us:

O and in case you're wondering how long my hair lasted, it was pretty puffy after this sunshine:

No more Ms. Silky for me!  Luckily, we were preparing for the beach next so I expected to return to the bushy curls...  See you tomorrow with the Virgin Island pics :)
